Would be good product except for 1,4 dioxane risk,
Let’s face it: anyone who buys from Jason, a company whose logo says “Pure, Natural & Organic”, is doing so because they don’t want to put on their skin the toxins found in most commercial skin care products. I really like the texture and feel of Jason products and I was happily using several of them when I received an email newsletter which said that Organic Consumers Association had recently tested 100 “Organic” or “Natural” products for contamination with 1,4 dioxane, a carcinogen that often results from the manufacturing process of PEG, polyethylene, Oxynol and ingredients ending with “eth”. More than half of these “organic” products had 1,4 dioxane. Unfortunately, Jason is one of them. The ingredients list for Jason Lifting Eye Creme are better than most, which is why I didn’t give them the poorest rating. There are no parabens or other known carcinogens, but they have fallen down by the inclusion of one ingredient, Ceteareth-20. While the FDA has never set a limit for 1,4 dioxane content and it’s possible Ceteareth can be in a skin product without contamination, the fact that some Jason products are contaminated makes me suspicious that they lack the kind of quality control which would prevent it. You’re better off using this eye cream than something from your local drug store or department store, but there are products out there that are clear of 1,4 dioxane. Look for 100% certified USDA organic products, because no certified organic products were found to be contaminated.
